Ground Resistance Monitoring
Product-Release by Alltec Corporation
Tuesday April 15, 2008
Increased concerns for Operator Safety and System Efficiency require low resistance, stable, zero current grounding systems. Managing grounding systems has always been limited to periodic testing and/or waiting for a grounding related problem to occur. Periodic Testing has its own challenges of disconnecting ground connection and available real estate for executing the IEEE 81 recommended Fall of Potential Test. Successful periodic testing only tells you the state of the grounding system while being measured, a problem could occur the day after the test and you would not know until the next test.
Changes in ambient conditions directly effect soil moisture content and temperature which are important factors influencing ground resistance. This protblem is solved with the introduction of GRM-2000-RS Ground Monitor. Now you never have to worry about your grounding system again as the continuous monitoring feature coupled with remote access capability and audible alarms, will inform of any changes in the integrity of the grounding system, allowing execution of corrective action before any electrical accident occurs.
Features
- Meter with LCD display, membrane switch keys and a split core sensor.
- The sensor can be installed on in-place conductors without disconnection, and can accommodate up to 500sq.mm (1000mcm) conductors.
- High and Low alarm settings with audio alert.
- Range of 0.5 – 999 Ohms and 0 -4 amps.
- Variable test rates (1/hr, 1/8hr or continuous)
- Remote monitoring accomplished through RS232; Dial-up Modem or TCP/IP.
- Remote monitoring software specially developed for GRM-2000 RS continuously looks for alarms and in addition polls every site once a day. Software tracks anomalies and can alert an operator that reports them to the customer.
- Software saves all data for historical review.
